OPERATIONS

On behalf of Transportation Management Services, Sherman & Begley Company (SBC) executed an established operations plan while managing the delivery of management and logistics services. Events, both domestic and international, included: Quicken Loans Golf Tournament, Polar Bear Plunge, 26.2 Donna, Vancouver Winter Olympics, US Open, Flora Bama, and Formula 1 Grand Prix. Our processes and management abilities helped to provide safe and efficient transportation solutions.

Process & Productivity

SBC provided consulting services to Horizon Coach Lines, the third largest motor coach operator in North America at the time, during the acquisition of 1,600 employees from Coach America. Following the onboarding of these employees, the company tasked SBC with three initiatives which included a safety committee to gather input from drivers across the different HCL locations; a review of driver compensation including hourly rate, benefits and safety incentives; and a standard operating procedure. As a result of these initiatives SBC was able to increase productivity and driver retention as well as reduce spending and driver accidents. After two years, HCL decided to sell off the 16 locations. SBC oversaw the sale of the company to different major players within the motor coach industry.

Staffing & FF&E

For the New Jersey Transit relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy, TMS Logistics hired SBC to manage the staff on site that would be acting as operations support throughout the course of the event. These relief efforts included shuttling transit riders from New Jersey into New York. Additionally, SBC identified and procured all required FF&E resources including rain gear, vests, wands, counters, and additional operational items to successfully run the shuttle.
